Do I need a referral?

No. You can book an appointment with &pause without a referral. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan or another referral from a health professional, you're welcome to bring it to your session so we can discuss how it relates to your counselling.

Yes. &pause offers online counselling across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, as well as in-person counselling in Hobart.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first session is a chance to talk about what has brought you here, ask questions and begin exploring what support may be helpful. You do not need to have everything worked out before you arrive.

How often will we meet?

It depends on what you need and what you are working through. Sessions may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We can talk about what feels appropriate after your first session and adjust this over time if needed.

Is what I share confidential?

Can I contact &pause between sessions?

Yes, for practical matters such as bookings, appointment changes or other administrative questions. Messages are responded to during business hours when possible. &pause cannot guarantee an immediate response or provide ongoing counselling or crisis support between appointments.
